GGT is more than a show or Magazine, it's a symbol of hope through a movement of people and culture. We aim to transform lives by celebrating the beauty and strength of those who have endured life's toughest challenges, to include Homelessness, Cancer, Domestic Violence, Post-Traumatic Stress, Drug Addiction, Unemployment, and other challenging issues. Our Inaugural Grown and Glamorous Hair and Fashion Show was a night to remember. One of the most touching moments was when CEO and Founder of Grown and Glamorous Transformations 501(c)(3), Rachel Rankins shared her personal story about her grandmother, who raised 11 children plus Rachel herself. Rachel spoke about her grandmother's brave fight against cancer, which ended on December 9, 2023. She recounted how, during Thanksgiving prior to her grandmother’s death, she and her cousin, who’s like a brother to her, Jeremy Newkirk, CEO and Founder of BeOfficial Managment Group, LLC, sat at the table, discussing ways to honor their grandmother's legacy. Despite her grandmother's battle with cancer, they conceived the idea of Grown and Glamorous Transformations as a tribute to her strength and resilience.
Through tears, Rachel described how the support from her community at her hair salon Rachel’s Hair Unlimited, LLC, her church, family, and close friends gave her the strength to launch Grown and Glamorous Transformations. She expressed her pride in everyone stepping up to be a responsible, united community, supporting those facing life-threatening issues and helping them feel good and hopeful each day. Rachel’s heartfelt words reminded us all of the power of unity and compassion.
